this past weekend was hard

So this past weekend was the Lamb Weston Columbia Cup held in the Tri-cities. For those who don’t know it’s a hydroplane race. I have a lot of memories of those weekends from my childhood, Dad going off the races while Mom and I went to the art show. After my senior year in high school I started going to the races too, and I loved it! That weekend (art show, boat races, or both) has been apart of my entire life. I’ve only missed one weekend and I was about 2. This past weekend though, I didn’t make it. Living several hours away I got a dose of reality when Dad pointed out if it was really worth it to come down for a day. I still wanted to, but I thought I should be smart about this. I tend to exhaust myself and then I get sick for a couple of days and am just miserable. I knew I needed to take care of myself. In the end there were many reasons that I chose not to make the trip, but it didn’t change the fact that I so desperately wanted to be there. Regardless of logic I couldn’t get over how much I wanted to be there. I missed you guys, and from what I’ve read I missed an amazing race. Congratulations to Graham Trucking for taking home the cup. I’m sorry I missed you guys, I hope to be able to see you there next year.
